EXTRA-BIBLICAL REVELATION BY STEVE FINNELL

Do extra-Biblical writings meet the approval of God? If  men use extra-Biblical writings that are contrary to Scripture for faith and practice in their church, is that not de facto adding to or taking away from the word of God?

If there were or are apostles and prophets who lived after the death of the apostles, then why are their writings not included in the Bible. There is not one verse of Scripture, not one letter, not one book that has been added to the Bible, that was written after the death of the last apostle, John.

There is no purpose for new revelation from God. The Bible contains all that men need for salvation and living the Christian life.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God  and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness. 17 so that man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

The sixty-six books of the Bible is all man needs to learn about God's plan of salvation and for living a Christian lifestyle.

ADDING TO OR TAKING AWAY FROM

Proverbs 30:6 Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be found a liar.

When men claim they have new revelation of God's word they are adding to His word.

Deuteronomy 4:2 You shall not add to the word which I commanded you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I have command you.

When churches use books of so-called new revelation, claiming that they came from God, then they are adding and taking away from His word.

Revelation 22:18-19 testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

If teaching is contrary to the Bible it is not from God.

PROPHET CHECK

Deuteronomy 18:21-22 'You may say in your heart, 'How will we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?' 22 When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the does not come about or come true, that is the things which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.

How often have so-called prophets been in error? Many times.

If creed books, catechisms, and so-called modern books of prophecy are teaching doctrines contrary to the Bible or are adding doctrines to the Bible, then they are adding to and taking away from the word of God.

THE BIBLE IS A COMPLETED BOOK OF REVELATION FROM GOD. MEN DO NOT NEED SO-CALLED NEW REVELATION FROM GOD TO UNDERSTAND THE GOSPEL OR HOW TO LIVE A CHRISTIAN LIFE.
